My dog, Colt, is a Jack Russel Terrier and he is getting older. Lately at night he wakes up to go get a really long drink and then go outside. I love my sleep, so when that 2:00 AM or 2:30 AM moment comes, I grudgingly get up and take him out. He has us trained more than we have him trained. We know that if we let him go, we will have a mess to clean up in the morning.

But once we get outside, I’m so glad I was awake. Despite all the rain and clouds we’ve had every day, the sky was always crystal clear at that time of night, with the exception of one night. I look up at the sky and see such a beautiful sight. The sky is a crisp almost-black shade of blue with tiny stars all over.
These moments strike me with a sense of awe. One of the most concreate ways to see God’s creativity and display of art is through His creation of nature. The starry scene each night was nothing short of a perfect picture.

It certainly made the early morning chore more bearable. In fact, I catch myself wondering as I stagger to the door what beautiful display will be out that time.
It reminds me that God is always there walking beside us. Sometimes he gives us little graces to get through the struggles or inconveniences of life. I feel like that is most often the case. We just need to be aware and to be listening to what He’s saying. Now, I almost ( *almost*) look forward to the these early morning stargazing events Colt drags me out of bed for.
